Additional information

The paper is the outcome of a collaboration work between three schools at University of Birmingham as part of EPSRC GAP project. It describes a new software architecture for Twitter collection and analysis in a social network. Specifically, the proposal handles both textual and geographical queries while accounting for both semantic aspect and slang vocabulary in order to accommodate wide spread of Twitter messages. The developed software has initiated collaboration with Dr. Fermin head of intelligence data unit at NHS, where its extension to alcohol related analysis has been performed and published.
