Expressive Copying Behavior for Social Agents: A Perceptual Analysis
This paper presents an experiment to investigate if the emotion of a virtual humanoid agent can be deduced from its programmed movement. The behaviour of the agent is formed by mapping the behaviour of a human actor. The paper provides a novel, original contribution towards the challenge of creating systems capable of establishing an engaged and synchronised interaction with humans by successfully demonstrating a methodology for establishing of agent behaviour. The work was partly supported by the EU FP7 LIREC project and a result of successful ongoing collaboration with Queen Mary University of London, University of Genova and Coventry University.
