Additional information

This paper presents a new model for material rupture, and also presents an innovative implementation of the model within an FE environment, allowing accurate failure predictions to be made with coarser, more practical, meshes. The model is validated against experimental data. This research was performed as part of the EC funded MARSTRUCT programme (Network of Excellence in Marine Structures; 506141; £223k).
