Additional information

The paper provides a novel analytical solution for residual stresses in fibre reinforced metal matrix composites using a matrix etching method.  It avoids the approximations made in the previous solutions, and it has been validated using both experimental data and finite element analysis. Our solution provides a reliable method for residual stress measurement in fibre composites that have proved to be intractable to established techniques.
