Breath in Action: The Art of Breath in Vocal and Holistic Practice
100 word statement for an edited book where the researcher has made a demonstrable contribution to the research published
In 2007, I co-curated an industry conference at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art as a research project in order to make manifest some of the discrete vocabularies of voice training and to initiate a wider discussion about their origins and values. The ensuing co-edited book, Breath in Action The Art of Breath in Vocal and Holistic Practice, marked the second phase of the project in 2009. Our editorial and research aims were to disseminate the multi-disciplinary articulations of the principles, values and vocabularies of breath and to ensure a position for voice practice within critical discourse more widely. This edited book is to be considered alongside chapter in book, Breathing the Verse, Breath in Action: The Art of Breath in Vocal and Holistic Practice pages 199- 214 by Jane Boston
