Additional information

<20> IJHCS has the highest h-index of any specialist HCI journal (SCImago). This paper develops the methodology initiated in Gillies et al. (2008) as part of the EPSRC project “Performance-Driven Expressive Virtual Characters” (EP/H02977X/1). It introduces significant new elements, including a focus on HCI and usability (which is vital to a practical methodology), in the form of a controlled user study, in which ordinary gamers customised a character. This has high potential impact, given the popularity of user-generated content games like. "Little Big Planet”. A futher development of this research was featured on wired online in 2012.
