<22> Introduces a new algorithm that is simpler, in the sense of having fewer terms, than standard Particle Swarm Optimisation. The new algorithm performs search with no bias towards continuing searching in the same direction but is experimentally demonstrated to be functionally equivalent to the standard one. This new algorithm is more controllable than standard PSO in that there are fewer bursts (as predicted in Blackwell: Examination of Particle Tails). This work has been taken up and used by a number of researchers including some in Southampton, New Zealand and several in the US.
