<28>IF=5.323. The EL Vira software has enabled, for the first time, the creation of software solutions that can employ biomedical ontologies to perform inferences and answer complex queries to support scientific analyses. It has been adopted by a variety of approaches (e.g. doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0022006) and facilitates numerous of tools such as GULO (doi:10.1186/1471-2105-12-418) as well as resources such as PhenomeNet (doi:10.1093/nar/gkr538) and MouseFinder (doi:10.1002/humu.22051). It is employed by the SBML Harvester software (doi:10.1186/1752-0509-5-124) that enabled the vision of the Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) project to connect systems biology models, currently used by the BioModels repository to verify models before each release.
