The mathematical technique described in the paper is implemented in a Matlab toolbox which has been viewed 2820 times and downloaded 380 times as of 2008. There have been many invited talks on this topic including at CASL in UCD (Derek Greene), Computer Lab Cambridge (Eiko Yoneki), UCL, DT Labs Berlin, Koblenz University and an invited talk at the MITACS/MASCOS Joint Workshop on Fusion, June 2008, Montreal. This metric allows optimisation, inference and model selection for topology generators and has led to several collaborations including with Giuseppe Jurman at FBK Torento, Marios Illoftou at UC, Riverside and Jerome Kunegis, Koblenz.
