Additional information

This research extends previous research by evaluating the mechanical properties of composite lower-limb prosthesis and demonstrating (by experimentation) the limitations of current test methodologies. It seeks to contribute to the discussion surrounding the controversy surrounding the unfair use of prosthetics technology (evident at the 2012 London Paralympics) by providing objective guidelines to the sports stakeholders to assess prosthetics technology. This journal is an open access journal and the contents aims and objectives stemmed from the authors participation (by invitation) in a working group for the International Paralympic Committee in 2010.
