Position in Unit: On full-time secondment to the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading as part of the Met Office@Reading group.
Work in Unit: Dr Lowe’s research is in the area of using climate, weather and ocean models to understand the effects of climate change and to generate scientific evidence to support adaptation and mitigation strategies. He is also Chief Scientist for the AVOID (Avoiding Dangerous Climate Change) programme. His research is closely linked to, and aligned with, that of other Unit staff and he has carried out published research within the last 5 years with other Unit staff, including: academic staff J. Gregory, N. Arnell, H. Cloke, K. Shine and S. Gosling (before he left the Unit in 2010); NCAS staff R. Sutton and M. Joshi (before he left the Unit in 2011); other MetOffice @Reading staff (e.g. P. Stott), NERC Fellow E. Hawkins, KE Fellow T. Osborne and PDRAs B. Lloyd-Hughes and N. Bouttes
