Additional information

An innovative concept for modelling air quality in urban areas is evaluated and validated through wind tunnel experiments in real geometries for the first time. SIRANE is an innovative concept relying on the “street network” approach to model such air quality, a reliable, fast alternative to detailed and time-consuming CFD modelling. The study provided important insights into one of the most promising modelling techniques for assessment of air quality in complex urban environments. The validation methodology for complex models in urban areas, a research area still in its infancy, is also discussed thoroughly in the paper, providing important recommendations.
