Additional information

This work contributes to the knowledge in biogas production from complex organic waste materials, by proposing a new simplified model approach. This can help in assessing the true potential of anaerobic digestion for energy production from waste materials. Moreover, it can improve the design of forthcoming anaerobic digestion systems that are intended to harness maximum renewable energy from such materials. The approach has been validated using representative/real samples from Nigeria, in an effort to assess its relevance across the world. In this respect, this work can lead to the development and assessment of globally relevant renewable energy generation systems.
