Additional information

This is an experimental and modelling study on the controlling factors for the preparation of emulsions with uniform sized droplets using membranes. Membrane emulsification is a new development of precision manufacturing and process intensification. The challenges are in the understanding and determination of process conditions and material property windows for producing uniform sized droplets. Understanding of these factors has enabled the scale up and commissioning of several pilot scale membrane emulsification systems. As a result of this work, several world-leading pharmaceutical, food and home personal care companies have set up research collaborations to explore the commercial applications of membrane emulsification.
