Additional information

The March 2008 issue was a special issue on the subject 'Assessment Frameworks, Indicators and Metrics'. This paper subsequently won the ICE Manby Prize in 2009. The paper explores complex decision contexts encountered in engineering projects and identifies common characteristics of methodology that may assist in supporting decisions made in these contexts, with examples drawn from energy and waste management projects. The paper provides direct support to engineers to select appropriate approaches when they address sustainable development objectives in project delivery, in line with their ethical and professional responsibilities; this has relevance to most industrial & engineering sectors, globally.
