Additional information

This paper won the Howard Medal of the the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2011 for the best paper on metals based research. It is the only definitive paper on the subject of the durability of light steel structures, and is based on joint industry-academic collaboration involving three universities and The Steel Construction Institute over 15 years on the life of coated steel specimens in various locations. The design life of structures is of practical significance and the paper is referred to in www.steelconstruction.info and in other guidance documents.
