Competing geometric and inertial effects on local flow structure in thick gravity-driven fluid films
The research was undertaken during 2007-08; NA was an EPSRC funded Visiting Researcher (EP/E029183/1); PHG was subsequently awarded a Senior Research Fellowship (2009), by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), to continue the collaboration [verification: Prof. N Aksel, Universität Bayreuth; tms@uni-bayreuth.de]. The work has been presented at several international meetings and was the topic of invited lectures at EUROMECH 497 “Recent developments and new directions in thin-film flow” [verification: Prof. Stephen Wilson, Strathclyde University; s.k.wilson@strath.ac.uk], and at a GAMM82 “Young Researchers’ Minisymposia on Structure formation, transition and instabilities in film flow” [verification: Dr Y-C Lee; y.c.lee@hw.ac.uk], in 2009 and 2011, respectively.
