Additional information

The paper proposed the integration of AFM probe-based machining into a novel process chain for the high throughput production of devices incorporating nano-scale features. The benefit of this study lies in the demonstration of a simple and cost-effective alternative technology for structuring masters at nano-scale compared to vacuum-based techniques. Subsequently, this work led to the funding of an EPSRC First Grant (EP/I012133/1, value: £99k) with the main author, Dr Brousseau, being the Principal Investigator. This study was also instrumental in the successful application of Dr Brousseau for the Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer award given by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
