Additional information

This is the first publication addressing a major challenge in clinical cancer research: the need to develop quantitative imaging measures of treatment response in disseminated bone disease. It describes a methodology for the delineation of lesions. MO Leach defined the problem and approach to ensure development, optimisation and implementation in clinical studies of new quantitative imaging techniques that calculate disease apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) in total body measurements. M Blackledge contributed to study design, analysed all the data using the code he developed for calculating ADC, undertook the statistical analysis, and wrote the first draft of the paper.
