Optically modulated electrokinetic manipulation and concentration of colloidal particles near an electrode surface
Significance of output:
This international collaboration led to an innovation in combining multiple field effects for driven assembly of particles on surfaces, establishing a new approach for building colloidal structures such as photonic crystals. This paper represents detailed analysis of the physical behaviour of field-driven electrochemical colloid deposition, using a new general experimental analysis method. This work received a best poster award at the MicroTAS conference and has spurred further collaborative research in directed self-assembly with Purdue University, University of Alberta and Oak Ridge National Laboratories. The approach has also been adopted by/influenced leading researchers at A&M and Stanford Universities.
