Significance of output:

Addressing the challenging topic of enhancing the performance of weak solid-state laser transitions, two milestone results are reported; a world-record radiance for the 946nm Nd:YAG-laser, and, a novel technique for monitoring laser performance in real-time.

Exploiting the advantages of double-clad waveguides coupled with novel oscillator designs, we created a new international benchmark, and consequently invited to present at the premiere Advanced Solid-State Lasers conference (Nov 2013).

Breaking our previous decade-long radiance world record with a tenfold power increase, we set the stage for future performance scaling. This work led to a £0.5M TSB project (TP 101504 – 01/11/13 – 31/10/15).
