Significance of output:

This paper describes significant advances in our theory of the confocal Raman process. Despite ~20 years of intense theoretical effort in this area, the theory described here is the only one that can correctly account for key features of the process. The paper was submitted by invitation to a special edition of this journal on the subject of Raman spectroscopy and was subsequently selected as the “hot article” from this edition, based upon its “high scientific interest and excellent scientific content” (Ingrid März, Assistant Editor, ABC).
