Beyond Feminist Biblical Studies

Double-weighting is based on the cross-disciplinary nature of the project and the need for the researcher to be fully immersed in the theoretical positionings of three discourses: queer theory, critical study of masculinities, and feminism. This involved the examination of substantial and complex texts in queer theory and feminist theory, and a critical review of all the work on masculinities within biblical studies. This lengthy period of data collection was necessary in order for the researcher to formulate the arguments that would lead the way out of a limited, closely bordered feminist biblical studies into the broader multidisciplinary approach advocated.
