Additional information

This research was a collaborative project between Staffordshire University and CONVERTEAM, a manufacturer of power electronic converters for wind turbines. The reliability of power converters can be improved by operating the converters at the lowest possible dc link voltage thereby reducing the effect of cosmic rays on the power semiconductor devices. In this paper the steady state and dynamic performance of the wind farm side of the power converter was investigated providing valuable information to the converter manufacturers.
