Double-weighted statement

This 110,000-word monograph redefines our understanding of Athenian political ideology. It is based on comprehensive analysis of the primary source evidence for the period 322-262 BC collected over three years. Two databases underlie this: a comprehensive analysis of Athenian inscriptions of this period and a prosopographical survey detailing 355 named Athenians and their family relationships. This required the collection, translation, analysis, and autopsy of more than 450 inscriptions located mostly in Greece. British and European Enlightenment views of post-Classical Athens were collated and analysed for the first time.
