The journal article evaluates and articulates the context, research aims, and practice-led methodologies probed within the performative project The Dybbuk, written by Julia Pascal, and co-directed by Pascal and Kampe, with set design, movement direction and choreography by Kampe. The article discusses the application of somatic-educational processes as resource for performance-making processes. It places the Feldenkrais Method, a key somatic education process, in theoretical contexts referring to complexity theory frameworks as formulated by ecologist Edgar Morin, and perspectives on embodied cognition with reference to Varela, Noë, and Wheeler. It discusses the emerging practice led methodology with reference to trans-disciplinary research modes as formulated by Montuori. The article sets out how somatic educational modalities inherent in the Feldenkrais Method can be transferred to performance making processes.

The article refers to the performance project The Dybbuk, which was presented as part of Dream-Up Festival at The Theatre for a New City, New York, with 12 performances between 10-22 August 2010. The performance was reviewed by The New York Times (http://theater.nytimes.com/2010/08/23/theater/reviews/23dybbuk.html?_r=0 ) and several web reviewers (http://ifpe.org/Reviews/Play-01.pdf ). The practice-led and somatic–informed methodologies discussed in the article, with reference to complexity, embodied cognition and trans-disciplinarity, have formed the base for further practice-led research published (Outputs 3 and 4).
