Additional information

Without the need for dedicated beaming of RF power, ambient RF energy harvesting is a new area for both research and commercial development. It enables the low level powering of remote sensor systems and associated wireless communications. This research was supported by CONACYT (Mexico) and UK Government Communications Planning Directorate contract (PO7031526), with £359k of follow on GCPD funding (PO7038795 and PO7046064). The reported results from a London-wide survey of harvestable spectral power can be found online: http://londonrfsurvey.org/. This work has resulted in a filed patent application (GB1314307.8) and a new spinout company (Drayson Wireless Limited) for commercial exploitation.
