Additional information

A companion model to simulate the heat flow and solidification of Ni-superalloy rings was developed concurrently with the shape model. New algorithms were developed for: (1) coupling of droplet mass and enthalpy at the deposition surface; (2) data mapping between time-evolving computational domains to ensure the conservation of mass and energy during the simulation of the complex droplet deposition process, achieving much improved robustness and accuracy compared to previous models. Currently, it is used in the projects funded by Baosteel (fanjf@baosteel.com) and Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (g.zhang@126.com) for developing novel alloys/ products for aerospace, energy and oil industry.
