Additional information

This paper reports a novel nanocomposite of polyaniline (PANI) and MnO2-filled multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), developed in collaboration with Imperial College London. The MWCNTs-MnO2 elements act as nanowires with their much higher electric current-carrying capability in comparison to metallic wires of similar dimensions. Overall the new composite had significantly enhanced conductivity compared to PANI and simple PANI/MWCNTs, and it offers the possibility of many revolutionary micro- and nano-optical-mechanical systems, such as molecular sensors, non-linear optical devices and electrochromic displays.
