The feasibility of hybrid solar-biomass power plants in India
Energy from biomass is relatively cheap and hybridisation with solar energy mitigates issues of feedstock and land availability. This study provides information about optimal levels of hybridisation, economic cost comparisons with other renewable energy systems and plant performance for alternative applications. The data quantifies the benefits of hybrid systems and informs policy makers and system designers on the most viable applications; thus, providing a major impetus for the uptake of hybrid plants. The findings have informed the design of a hybrid solar-biomass power plant being built in Jodhpur, India, and enabled the economic competitiveness of hybrid systems to be forecast.
