Are biopolymers potential deodourising agents in wound management?
This paper aims at reducing the carbon foot print. The findings led to the development of environmental friendly wound dressings that possess added advantages to existing commercial dressings. Natural biopolymer was imbued into the dressing that facilitates adsorption of malodour from infected wounds. The dressing is a potential alternative to the existing activated charcoal dressing, and has the added advantages of having antimicrobial properties as well as the ability to promote a moist wound environment. Commercial exploitation is underway by Lantor Ltd, UK. Rajendran co-supervised and contributed to biopolymers, data analysis and interpretation sections.
