Additional information

This research led by Anand and funded by DTI Technical Textiles Initiative and Netlon (now Tensar Ltd UK) led to full investigation and characterisation of Netlon’s patented process of producing net structures of various sizes and geometries in a novel melt extrusion process. An expert system was devised, which predicts the final shape and size of the net structures in the commercial process by fixing a set of variables. This is being used for Netlon’s commercial requirements since 2002. These net structures are utilised in a wide spectrum of applications ranging from packaging to protective nets and geotextiles.
