Additional information

This first reported attempt to functionalise graphene oxide (2D) with octa-aminophenyl-POSS (3D cage type) significantly increased the thermal stability of epoxy resin. This part of the collaborative research between Bolton and USTC, China was conducted during Kandola’s tenure as a visiting professor in USTC (Jan 2011 - Dec 2012), funded by Chinese Academy of Sciences. She had a major input in experimental design, advising on analysis of results and writing of the paper. Subsequent work on fibre-reinforced composites was carried out by Wang at Bolton (as a visiting researcher for 3 months) and published in Comp.Part A, 53(2013).
