Compassionate killings: The Case for a Partial Defence
Both authors brought their research expertise and interests. Bridgeman brought her expertise in feminist perspectives upon health and intensive caring. Keating employed her expertise in criminal law to examine the criminal law framework and why existing defences are inappropriate. Both contributed to the analysis of the original data from the cases and application of theoretical concepts of compassion to present the argument for the introduction of a partial defence of ‘compassionate killing’. Each author provided an initial drafts of sections of the article refined through discussion and reiteration of numerous versions; the entire work is a genuinely collaborative effort.
