This book is the only English language study to address the Austrian and German experience of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. (The German language volumes that have addressed the conflict are limited by theme or geographical scope.) It is based on extensive archival research in fifteen archives and research libraries spread across Germany, Austria and Poland. The claim for double-weighting is thus based on, 'The collection and analysis of a considerable body of material' and 'The use of primary sources which are especially extensive'.
