English Jesuit Education: Expulsion, Suppression, Survival and Restoration, 1762–1803
Research for this monograph involved assessing material in archives and libraries in Austria, Belgium, Britain, France, Italy and the USA. This twelve-year undertaking unearthed a wealth of new material beyond the main corpus of archives originally earmarked for investigation and analysis. The distinctive argument of the monograph – that the educational work of the suppressed English Jesuits had an international impact – could not have been achieved without exploring relevant sources on an international scale. The claim for double-weighting is based on, 'The collection and analysis of a considerable body of material' and 'The use of primary sources which are especially extensive'.
