Double-weighted statement

Likeness and Likelihood in the Presocratics and Plato, as a monograph developed from a PhD thesis, is the result of five years research. It provides substantial new readings of the epistemology of three different philosophers, combining detailed philological scholarship with original philosophical analysis and interpretation. Although Bryan considered publishing the first two chapters as articles in their own right (the first was provisionally accepted and submission of the second invited by prominent journals of Ancient Philosophy), the decision was made to publish them together in monograph form, since the overall account is one of philosophical influence and development.
