Double-weighted statement

The monograph involved the collection and analysis of a considerable body of material. It took five years' full-time research, drawing upon an extensive and diverse source base (38 of Bede's Latin writings; 66 additional patristic or medieval texts). An integrated approach to Bede's corpus aligns historical, exegetical, educational, scientific and poetic works to evaluate his contribution to Christian eschatology. Only the second major English-language monograph to study a specific aspect of Bede's theological thought across his canon, and the first for almost 20 years, this book opens Bede scholarship to an alternative mode of discourse.
