Double-weighted statement

This monograph provides a new thesis about the dominant political grouping in the Habsburg Monarchy from 1861 to 1895. I emphasise the ideological roots of liberalism and how the movement changed over this thirty year period. My study traces individuals as well as the interaction between local, regional, national and state levels. This involved extensive and lengthy work in local, regional and central archives. Newspapers, pamphlets, books, journals and parliamentary records were also used to provide a broad and rich coverage for the liberals, both in politics and society in general. The monograph represents fifteen years of research.
