Additional information

SEQUENCE is an experimental, peer-reviewed serial publication using a sequential edited-collection format. Each SEQUENCE begins with the publication of a key contribution to research in media, film or music on a particular theme. Scholarly responses, in both conventional and multimedia format, are then invited. Each evolving SEQUENCE is then published in a variety of electronic viewing and reading formats, with the web version only the first in a series of digital iterations. ‘A Hatred So Intense’ was the inaugurating article for SEQUENCE 2, and extended debates about maternal representation, matriarchal genealogy, feminist cultural production, and classical and contemporary melodrama.
