Double-weighted statement

This book examines a quintessential Korean musical drama. The collection of primary sources and fieldwork, analysis of performances, interviews and their translation were undertaken in Korea, China and the former USSR between 1987 and 2012. Drawing from this extensive body of material, the book deals with a complex of historical, aesthetic, musical, textual, transmission and policy perspectives while critically addressing the effects of diaspora, culture industry and creativity. By employing diverse theoretical arguments it offers a comprehensive analysis and critical insight to such genres in general.
