This is one of the first papers to discuss an energy-storage system using 2G HTS. It introduces the most energy-efficient way to design such an energy-storage system. It has had exceptionally high citations from its publication in 2010. The work formed part of Yuan's PhD and led to a Springer These Prize recognising outstanding PhD research. It also led Dr Yuan to be selected to present this work in House of Commons to the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee.
