Additional information

New procedures are presented for studying individual discharge events during PEO coating formation, particularly their duration and charge transfer. The entirely novel methodology has led us to make several further publications [Surf Coatings Technol 207(2012)66; Comp Sci Technol 71(2011)908; J Mech Behav Biomed Mater 4(2011)2103; Appl Surf Sci. 268(2013)397]. Resultant improvements in understanding of PEO have proved very useful to associated firms, particularly in terms of reduced energy consumption and improved thickness control; the CEO of Keronite plc can confirm this (stephen.hutchins@keronite.com).
