Oskar Fischinger's Synthetic Sound Machine and Fischinger's Scores
This was produced as part of a research project entitled 'An analysis of the creative process of Visual Music pioneer Oskar Fischinger from a practice-led perspective' funded by an AHRC Fellowship grant. Additional outcomes for the project consisted of a gallery exhibition of annotated and documented reproductions of Fischinger's scores and other process materials (presented at BSU's Corsham Court Gallery). The Fischinger book was published to coincide with the presentation of a major Fischinger retrospective at the EYE film museum in Amsterdam - this exhibition also included a number of these reproductions. This research has also been presented as a conference paper entitled 'The Scores of Oskar Fischinger: A Musical Approach to a Visual Music Pioneer' at: MuSA Conference, IMWI, Karlsruhe (2012); Visible Bits Audible Bytes, DeMontfort University (2013); EMSAR, Anglia Ruskin University (2013); Understanding Visual Music 2, Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero, Buenos Aires (2013).
