This work was inspired by the French and Dutch referendum 'No' votes on the European Constitution. In both cases, left wing parties played a crucial role, so the aim here was to provide a cross-country analysis of left wing parties and European integration. My involvement as editor was in establishing the research aims and objectives and setting the core research questions (set out in the opening chapter) and in drawing together the main themes and findings into an overall conclusion (final chapter).
