Additional information

Provides a comprehensive study for the optimum design of a new class of compact freestanding polariser converters. Electromagnetic performances are compared for single and multiple screens perforated with arrays of different highly shaped slots, wherein a linear polarised signal on entry is converted to a circular polarised signal on exit. Arrangements were identified that simultaneously exhibit broadband, low loss, angular insensitive operation. We demonstrate that the structure can also be used to reduce radar crossection or provide protection to an amplifier from reflected signals. Thales Alenia Space France subsequently extended some of the techniques elaborated in this paper (Senior engineer).
