Additional information

<20>This paper is the first of two which explored how providing interaction into 3D medical visualisation could aid understanding in the presented visual form. The work was undertaken by a combination of technologists and clinicians. Prof Len Funk also used the work to inform teaching (at Salford University) and to support his practice. The principles for 3D volumetric visualisation also formed the foundation on work into 3D video based reconstruction. An extension of the approaches used here was funded by university seed funding to produce the Yorik prototype platform for supporting teaching anatomy without the need for physical avatars.
