Additional information

Polyimide is widely used in the electronics packaging industry. This paper reports a polyimide based composite that is electrically conductive, for improved electromagnetic field shielding and electrostatic charge dispersal. This research demonstrated 100 times enhancement (to our knowledge the best ever reported) in the electrical conductivity for a carbon nanotube-polyimide matrix. The work led to two further publications (DoI:10.1166/jnn.2010.2224and DoI:10.1002/pi.2855) on the study of dispersion and integration of CNTs in polymer composites. This research results from Cheung’s one year Royal Society Visiting Professorship at the City University of Hong Kong.
