An international collaboration with Wisconsin resulted in this first paper which developed a tight performance bound for the capacity of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems operating in vehicular communications. Unlike the majority of previous analyses, which concentrated on Rayleigh fading channels, this paper developed bounds for Rician channels that better describe line-of-sight vehicular environments. The approach has been applied to polarized systems by Chinese researchers (Lu, DoI:10.1007/s11277-011-0498-x).
