Evaluation of typical concrete material models used in hydrocodes for high dynamic response simulations
This study of computational models for concrete and geomaterials under high dynamic loads has been applied in a large-scale defence construction project, helping to free hundreds of hectares of valuable land in Singapore (Underground Ammunition Facilities, Dr.Yingxin Zhou, zyingxin@dsta.gov.sg). The paper identified short-comings in the widely-used models and suggested possible remedies that led to a modified model (DoI:10.1016/j.ijimpeng.2010.04.004). This work has been influential in international research e.g.: Israel, DoI:10.1016/j.finel.2011.05.008; UK, DoI:10.1016/j.ijimpeng.2012.10.010; Europe, DoI:10.1016/j.finel.2011.11.004 and DoI:10.1016/j.compstruc.2011.08.003; and USA (Livermore), DoI:10.1016/j.ijimpeng.2012.01.003. The work has led to keynote lectures at ASEM’08 (Korea) and ISSE-12 (Wuhan) http://www.isse-12.org/keynote_lectures.html.
